Park Path Lighting: Phase 3

By | Uncategorized | No Comments

The City of Pleasantville is once again seeking donations for phase 3 of park path lighting! We plan to expand the lights down behind the east baseball field and towards Casey’s. This is a great opportunity for business and individuals to support the community or memorialize a loved one. Each light has LED lighting and will be lit each night giving added lighting for the walking path throughout the night. With your donation of $450 the City will attach a steel plaque to the light with lettering of your choice. The City will place your light on a concrete footing, with professional installation. These donations are tax deductible. For more information, please contact City Hall during normal business hours or send an email to

New Pleasantville Subdivision Looks To Bring Fresh Housing Options To Community

24 SpringView Lots To Become Available To Support Housing Needs

PLEASANTVILLE, IA, July 1, 2017 –This summer VerMeer Development Inc. will be breaking ground on SpringView, the first subdivision to be developed  in Pleasantville in almost two decades. The property is located on the Northwest corner of Pleasantville city limits just off Highway 5, and shares W Pleasant Street with the new Dollar General store and Casey’s General Store.

SpringView has 24 lots will range from .25 to .66 acres and will house residential single family homes to accommodate rising housing demands in the Marion County area due to a strong school district, Lake Red Rock, local grain elevator, among other industries. Marion County Development Commission projects a for-sale housing need of 198 homes by 2025 in the Pleasantville area alone.

“Marion County needs more housing options for our residents. The county and town of Pleasantville has a lot to offer with the recreational activities at Lake Red Rock, the strong school district, and just a 20-30 minute drive to Des Moines. The City of Pleasantville staff approached me a little over a year ago about the possibility of a new housing development and after doing our diligent research, we are happy and excited to be bringing this new subdivision to the community. The city staff, in particular Police Chief & City Administrator Joe Mrstik, has helped us out tremendously to make this vision become reality. Our goal is to break ground in early August.” Commented Anthony “Tony” VerMeer, owner of VerMeer Group, the parent company of VerMeer Development Inc.

VerMeer Development Inc. plans to finish developing the first 9.5 acres by the end of 2017 as a part of phase 1 providing 24 lots, and will continue developing the additional 12.5 acres as a separate phase 2 at a later date with an additional 30 lots.

VerMeer Group is the parent company of VerMeer Development Inc., VerMeer Builders Inc., TK Concrete Inc., Maxim Trucking and Materials Inc., and is based in Pella, IA with satellite locations in Des Moines, IA.
