The City of Pleasantville is currently accepting applications for a self-motivated individual for a Public Works position. There will be a post employment physical and drug screen. Starting salary is $20.06. Application deadline is June 7, 2017.



  • Able to operate equipment including but not limited to dump trucks, loader/backhoe, skid loader, mower, snow removal equipment
  • Operate and maintain water and wastewater treatment plants, distribution lines and storage facilities
  • Operate and maintain city parks and buildings
  • Able to do minor street maintenance and repair



  • Able to be on call and work weekends on a rotating basis
  • Applicants must possess or have the ability to obtain a grade 1 in water treatment distribution and wastewater within 1 year and a grade 2 in water treatment distribution and wastewater within 3 years
  • Applicants will need a class B CDL with air brakes or be able to obtain one within 3 months
  • Applicant must reside within 15 miles of Pleasantville within 6 months

Part-time / Seasonal Public Works laborer


The City of Pleasantville is accepting applications for a part-time / seasonal laborer in the Public Works Department.  Job responsibilities will include a variety of maintenance tasks and light construction work, including painting, grass-mowing, street cleaning and maintenance, janitorial duties, and other duties as may be assigned.

The person hired for this position must be at least 16 years of age; must possess a valid Iowa Driver’s license; and must be able to perform a variety of physical tasks, including lifting and carrying materials weighing up to fifty pounds.

The City of Pleasantville has been contacted by the Marion County Development Commission regarding an industrial lead. The lead is looking for 100 acres on a hard surfaced road, preferably four lane. Co-Ed Slowpitch League registration now open

The 2017 Pleasantville Co-Ed Slowpitch League is now open! By popular demand, games will be on Tuesday nights this season.

Team Managers can register at the Pleasantville Recreation website.

Tentative start date is June 20th, with seven weeks of regular season play followed by a single elimination tournament.

The course offers guidance for anyone interested in working toward a debt free lifestyle. It provides tools for planning your financial future that allows you to “live and give like no-one else.” During the nine-week course, on average, attendees pay off $5,300 in debt and save $2,700; a stunning $8,000 dollar financial turnaround.
